Americans regardless of their political party are in favor of ending lifetime appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to a recent AP-NORC poll. 67% of Americans, including 82% of Democrats, 57% of Republicans, and 51% of independents are in favor of having a set term instead of a lifetime appointment. Similarly, 64% of Americans, including 75% of Democrats, 56% of Republicans, and 54% of independents are in favor of a mandatory retirement age. With a majority regardless of party affiliation in favor of these two ideas, we rate the concept of ending lifetime Supreme Court appointments as PURPLE.
