According to a recent Gallup poll, drinking alcohol is purple with 64% of Democrats, 63% of Republicans, and 72% of independents imbibing at least occasionally. However, what's also purple is thinking it is bad for society and bad for drinkers themselves as 75% of those surveyed think alcohol's impact on society is either somewhat or very negative (with little difference across party lines). Similarly, 71% think the impact on most people from drinking is either somewhat or very negative (with little difference across party lines).
