A large portion of Americans regardless of political party agree that students should be taught a diverse history. 80% of Americans believe students should be taught the history of those with different racial backgrounds, including 92% of Democrats, 69% of Republicans, and 73% of independents, according to a recent report released by More in Common. The same report also showed that 86% of Americans believe that schools should teach both our shared national history and the history of specific groups such as Black, Hispanic and Native Americans, including 94% of Democrats, 78% of Republicans, and 82% of independents
